Glory of God

 Glory of God

And the glory of the God of Israel was gone up from the cherub, whereupon he was, to the threshold of the house. And he called to the man clothed with linen, which had the writer’s inkhorn by his side; And the Lord said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads Rev. 7.3; 9.4; 14.1 of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.  And to the others he said in mine hearing, go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity: Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house.  And he said unto them, Defile the house, and fill the courts with the slain: go ye forth. And they went forth, and slew in the city. Ezekiel 9: 3-7.

God commanded that only those who remained faithful to him and His Word were to be spared the coming judgment.

Their loyalty to God who determined by their love for righteousness and their grief and hatred over the sins committed around them. They were to receive a special mark of identification from God the Hebrew letter taw.

Grief over sin is evidence of true saving faith, those who genuinely belong to the Lord will grieve just as He does when they see sin and immorality in the world and in the church.

God’s own judgment begins with His own people especially with the spiritual leaders of His congregations.

Leaders and overseers in the churches are particularly accountable to God for their faithfulness to His Word and for their perseverance in righteousness and holy living. James 3:1, if they fail to be Good examples, they will lead many away from God and His Word.

God wants His people to live holy obedient lives. Since his people were consistently disobeying Him, and specifically practicing idolatry.
