Bible Verses About Life

 

In the Old Testament of the Bible it says “then the LORD God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature” Genesis 2:7.

 

It also tells us that “… the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it for you on the altar to make atonement for your souls, for it is the blood that makes atonement by the life” Leviticus 17:11.

 

Medical science tells us that when the brain waves stop the human body is dead. However, when a person drowns and stops breathing, what is it that revives them through resuscitation? It is the return of oxygen to the brain … oxygen that is carried to the brain in the blood.

 

In the New Testament we read that without the shedding of blood by our Savior, Jesus, we could not have eternal life. Matthew 26:28; Hebrews 9:22. Jesus’ blood is our life – the atonement for our soul. Here are twenty popular Bible verses about life.

 

In The Beginning

 

And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. Genesis 1:20

 

And out of the ground the LORD God made to spring up every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Genesis 2:9

 

The LORD God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, cursed are you above all livestock and above all beasts of the field; on your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life.

Genesis 3:14

 

And to Adam he said, “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, you shall not eat of it,’ cursed is the ground because of you; in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life; thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you; and you shall eat the plants of the field. Genesis 3:17

 

Then the LORD God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat, and live forever — ” therefore the LORD God sent him out from the garden of Eden to work the ground from which he was taken. Genesis 3:22-23.

 

Life and Death

 

“Whoever takes a human life shall surely be put to death. Whoever takes an animal’s life shall make it good, life for life…”

Leviticus 24:17-18

 

I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live, loving the LORD your God, obeying his voice and holding fast to him, for he is your life and length of days, that you may dwell in the land that the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.”

Deuteronomy 30:19-20.

 

The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life that one may turn away from the snares of death.  Proverbs 14:27.

 

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits. Proverbs 18:21

 

For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. Romans 5:10

 

Eternal Life

 

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. John 3:36

 

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23.

 

Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 1st Timothy 6:12.

 

I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life. 1st John 5:13

 

Jesus is Life.

 

Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst…”

John 6:35.

 

Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

John 8:12

 

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he dies, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:25-26

 

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me…” John 14:6

 

And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. 1st John 5:20
